Of the many afternoon teas and hi-teas I have had, one that I really enjoyed was on my recent visit to London, a couple of weeks ago, at the Ritz. The Mister and I were lucky to secure a last minute spot for Afternoon Tea at the Palm Court, located right in the heart of the Ritz London. The ambience around The Ritz was lovely and beautiful – one of the most perfect Afternoon Tea settings I’ve ever been to.
Tables were filled with pretty Chinaware and silverware. The high ceiling contributed to a lovely tearoom ambience with the very ‘royal English’ furniture. Completing it all is the beautiful serenade of piano accompaniment made of lovely soundtracks.
Of course the menu offered is filled with a good selection of teas and finger sandwiches, sweets and teacakes. The service was impeccable and the staff member even kindly catered to our special dietary requirement. I had a hard time deciding on my tea and eventually decided on the Rose Congou tea. It was brilliant and definitely a good choice as it went very well with the rest of the afternoon tea menu.
We started off with our tea and finger sandwiches and sweets, after which, our warm freshly baked scones were served, only when we were ready for it. After the scones, we were served teacake from a trolley. This trolley cake concept is something that never fails to amaze me, each time I see the ‘cake-person’ pushing the trolley around during afternoon teas!
On the whole, the Afternoon Tea at The Palm Court one interesting and lovely experience. Everything from service, to ambience and entertainment were very tastefully done. One thing though, reservations for Afternoon Tea at the Palm Court should be made well in advanced – we were just lucky to have managed to secure a spot just days before our arrival into London!
