If you haven’t already realized, there is a cupcake craze going around (the world!) for a while now. On all my travels so far, whenever it’s time for dessert, be it in a cafe or restaurant or even supermarket, there is always some form of cupcake that exists! Recently when I was in Singapore, I decided to explore the cupcake scene. I tried cupcakes from a few places – some I stumbled upon on outings and some I stumbled upon when I did a Google search and then decided to pursue. One of the places that I found on Google was: Spatula Bakery.
I got the Pops to drive me all the way to their then location in Joo Chiat Road.(This was in May 2014) It was a cute little place which was filled with a burst of amazing goodness! Steps away from the door, I could smell that home-baked freshness cake aroma! And when I opened the door, I almost fainted at the even stronger aroma that made me feel like wanting to dive into the biggest bowl of cake batter I could find! Initially, I only wanted to try 2 flavours but I just couldn’t control myself and went on to get a box of 6 instead! I love, love, love the settings of the lil bakery in the Joo Chiat location. Now, they have moved to 87 Frankel Avenue. I can’t wait to see their new location! Their new location has been in operation since end of June.

The best thing about the cupcakes form Spatula Bakery was that, even though I kept the remaining cupcakes and ate them two days later, they were still quite fresh and yummy, unlike other cupcakes, which just don’t seem to stay as fresh. As much as it’s best to gobble them up on the day of purchase, sometimes, we just can’t help it, if you ever end up like me! (in case your actual intentions just succumb to your final actions, from 1 cupcake to 6 cupcakes in my case!)
Now, that they have moved to a bigger location with dine-in facilities and a menu with more variety, I can’t wait to pop by for a visit the next time I am back in Singapore. Whether you are after cupcakes, cakes, cake pops, cake lollies, waffles and moreeee, for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and the list goes on….. Spatula is the place to go! I can vouch for that, as the last time I was in Singapore, I tried cupcakes from 4 different places in a week’s span and Spatula topped it all!
