The Big Ben holds a very beautiful architecture. I would describe it as being made of ‘royal colours’. The whole tower of Big Ben is actually known as the clock tower. For those who may be wondering, the term ‘Big Ben’ is a nickname for the clock tower, which actually refers to the actual great bell of the clock in the clock tower. In 2012, the Clock Tower was renamed to The Elizabeth Tower, in the celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II.
The construction of the Elizabeth Tower has an interesting history. It was built in such a way that the construction occurred from inside out so that no scaffolding was visible to the public. The construction began around 1843 and eventually completed in 1859, after experiencing some delays in construction.
On the whole, the Big Ben also known as the Clock Tower and now known as the Elizabeth Tower, is a lovely beautiful building that gives a persona of calmness and leaves one in awe at first sight!
