Over the weekend, the Mister and I went on a mini Spring getaway weekend. It is not often that we get to be out and about, minus the hassle of big coats and being in the comfort of just a single layer of clothing in Toronto, Ontario. We decided to have a relaxing weekend and drove up North to the Muskoka Lakes Region, into the Township of Muskoka.
The drive in was a very pleasant one, as the sun’s rays baked us till almost golden brown and allowed our hair to glisten, not only our hair but the sights around us seems to be glistening in greenery, unlike our previous drive where everything was somewhat frozen. The beauty of the surroundings on our drive up made it impossible for me to be away from my camera.
I got excited and wondered about Inukshuk figurines that I saw along the highways. It is believed that Inukshuks are figurines built by the Natives to show a point of reference or existence. The main lakes that the Township of Muskoka contains include that of Lake Muskoka, Lake Rosseau and Lake Joseph, around which there were several other little lakes.

Our ‘mini- ride’

Not perfect but the best I could get from a moving car with an iPod camera. Spot the transformers-like figures, known as the Inukshuks

Reason 1 why I kept snapping in the moving car

Another reason to keep snapping while on the move…

I captured this image of this cute cottage from the car too!
We stopped by a little convenience store opposite the Boatshed for some ice cream, about 20 minutes away from our accommodation at the JW Marriott, Lake Rosseau. It was the nicest time of the day for a stop over as we witnessed the many people boating and just basking in the weather on their boats around the lakes.

Spot the house with the garage in the water, in the far distant!

The Boatshed

Almost there – our final destination…
It was definitely one beautiful cottage country weekend for us – right day picked and right time of the year selected! 🙂
