It was an almost 4 hours trip by coach to the Grand Canyon – that makes it a total return journey time of 8 hrs! The super long journey was worth the backache sitting on our not so mini Detours bus…

As we embarked further and further on our journey, inevitably, the country roads and surroundings just made me hum to this tune which my Mama taught me when I was young. I can remember quite clearly how we used to play it on an old electronic piano my parents got me!
While everyone else was asleep or entertaining their own thoughts, as i admired the scenery out the window, inside me I went…

I just could not stop thinking and humming to that tune that I had to look it up as soon as we got back to the hotel on Youtube….
We stopped at a small cool town – Sedona on the way, went around to the Red Rocks. I was somehow gradually mesmerized by nature’s beauty as we went along our long journey. Look at some of the things that can be found in this cool little town! It was raining rather heavily when we stopped over in Sedona, nonetheless, it was still awesome!
Ain’t this fella just soooooo cute – he was “guarding” a chocolate shop, hah!
I want one of these – Xylophones!
By the way, this is what the toilet doors at stops along the countryside look like 🙂
What we saw on our way as we climbed up! Doesn’t this remind you of the movie Snow White & the Huntsman????

And when we eventually reached the Grand Canyon, I was just totally MESMERIZED as the whole place was just so
AWESOMELY MESMERIZING!
That’s my description of the Grand Canyon. How could I not be, look belowwwwww…..
Though there was some light hail when we arrived, it all cleared up and the weather leaned towards our favour when we eventually got there, than when we were driving up – Alhamdulillah….
On our way back, we popped by the little town of Navajo for some souvenir shopping – we didn’t buy much at all as we were still somewhat mesmerized by the beauty of the whole region. Saw some Apache Indians and again, I was amazed at the uniqueness of their features and natural beauty…..

We returned tired but quietly inside, I was somewhat happy & contented that finally, I managed to see the Grand Canyon, not only because it was one of the major landforms that I learnt about at ‘A’ levels but also, it just looked awesome from photos I have seen around – certainly mesmerizing indeed!
There’s also this little voice inside me which goes, “Mannn, if only I had been given the opportunity to visit all these geographical places back then, I would probably be the top student in the course but oh well, the one up there knows best and I thank him for all he’s given me for I am indeed blessed!”
Tired as we were, we topped our day of with one of the nicest halal Persian Dinner back in Scottsdale, yummmyyy!!!……
This is a platter for 2, mind you! Of course, as usual, the Mister packed our leftovers for a cold Persian breakfast the next morning!
What a day it was – Amazing, Awesome, Beautiful, Blessed, Challenging, Mesmerizing, Tiring but Thankful would be my words to describe 27th January 2013 – what a very enriching Arizona experience we had!
Towns of Sedona, Navajo, Vale, Flagstaff, Albuquerque and of course Scottsdale, Phoenix, Arizona – you’re all simply AMAZING!
