I cannot live too far away from one of my favourite staples in this world ever (apart from rice) – NOODLES!!! Noodles is also a popular staple amongst the Chinese. In fact, there are various different types of noodles available in the supermarket shelves out there that I go crazy when I walk down the Noodles isle, not knowing which to choose! As the Lunar New Year is just around the corner, in order to allow myself to soak in that festive atmosphere, most of my post these few days will be themed according to the festive period. What a coincidence that apart from being my favourite staple, certain types of noodles are also served on Chinese New Year – Longevity Noodles in particular. It is believed that the Longevity Noodles (without any doubt) symbolizes a wish for longevity.
Nevertheless, I am presenting to you my own version of a Quick 5 Ingredients Noodles today, very much suitable for those of you looking for that last minute dish to add on to the dishes of the big feast you may have on the menu for that reunion dinner, perhaps? Or maybe, just for those of you who are looking for a very simple, quick dish this festive holiday season?
This quick 5 ingredients Noodles Recipe is good on it’s own or as a side dish with other main dishes. Above is just a suggestion (because I’m obsessed with the Lunar New Year at the moment) but there are so many other ways it can be served. For example, it can be served as a main with a side of fried chicken wings and salad, served together with a variety of BBQ dishes, as an additional dish on the table for that Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner, served with a side of Wanton Soup, and the possibilities are just endless. Above all, it is a very simple, versatile dish, yet so good to even eat it on its own! Also a good dish to satisfy that craving of ‘Hawker Economy Noodles’! And of course, if you are looking into adding in more veggies or even meat, by all means, it will only add on to the “yummy-ness” of the dish!♥
